The cover photo is from the 1976 Clarendon history book which identifies the wreck as ca. 1907.  The June 28, 1906 article from the Orwell Citizen below describes the June 20th accident in which engineer Harry Davis was killed.  Below that is an account from the June 25, 1906 Rutland Herald of the funeral which took Mr. Davis by rail to his hometown of Chester.  The deceased engineer Harry S. Davis was really Silas Henry Davis, 49 years old.  His death certificate said he was a Clarendon resident at the time of his death.  He left a wife and 8 children.  Note that the 1910 census incorrectly lists him as still being alive.  Census errors of that magnitude were not uncommon in that era.  Often census takers did not even talk to the family being recorded.
