Who built this ca. 1817 Middle Road home is not known.  At the time of the 1869 map it was owned by Hannibal Hodges who also owned the other H. Hodges home shown on the map, that being the former Hodges Inn at the corner of Middle Rd and Walker Mountain Rd. (see the Hodges Inn entry in the Buildings & Enterprises collection and Hodges House in this collection for information on that structure.  Which home he lived in at that time is not known. 

Hannibal Hodges (1817 - 1888) was married to Maria (Hall) Hodges (1817 - 1909), daughter of Caleb Hall, a prominent Clarendon entrepreneur.  Hannibal was a prosperous farmer.  They had 3 children.
