Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Wait (1732 - 1776) is the most famous Clarendon personage who never lived in Clarendon.  He died here of wounds suffered in a skirmish shortly before the Battle of Valcour Island, and was buried here in what is known today as the Joseph Wait Gravesite.  It is off Moulton Ave.  The cover photo is of his tombstone. What follows is a transcript of an article from the 2-12-1909 Rutland Evening News.
