The cover photo is an advertisement for the E.E.Dutcher Blacksmith Shop from the 1903-1910 timeframe. The Aug. 25, 1903 Rutland Daily Herald had an announcement saying E.E. Dutcher of Bellows Falls has opened the blacksmith shop formerly owned by E.J. Woods. The Aug. 7, 1897 Rutland Daily Herald said:
The blacksmith shop, after being closed for several months, is now occupied by E.J. Woods of Bridgewater who will move his family here soon.
We do not know the precise location but this shop was somewhere in Clarendon Flats.
E.E. Dutcher was Ernest Edward Dutcher (1882 - 1950). The sign above the door says E.E. Dutcher - Gen'l Blacksmithing, Woodwork - Painting Connected. The sign at the bottom isn't entirely clear but it may say Sharp Shed and something 26 miles??
