This 1818 silk embroidery was made by Elmira Clarinda Walker (1805 - 1836), daughter of Lewis & Sarah (Gates) Walker of Chippenhook.  At the link above you will find a transcript of the eulogies she stitched and some background information on Elmira and the Walker family.  This and the companion embroideries (Lydia/Lucy Hills Embroidery  and Hannah Cook Embroidery) also found in this collection are extremely rare examples of embroidery on silk from this era.  They are the only known examples in this style.  The Elmira Clarinda Walker embroidery is held in a private collection and is shown here with permission of the owner.
