Moreso than many enterprises of 100+ years ago the Orvillo marble quarry has largely been lost to contemporary memory despite it's success and renown in its heyday. It goes almost without mention in Vermont quarry histories but through contemporaneous newspaper articles a history found at the link above was compiled. This quarry was located just north and east of the Clarendon Marble company quarry off of Walker Mountain Rd north of Clarendon Springs.
The cover photo is of the NY State Education building in Albany, NY built in 1908 - 1910 using marble from the Orvillo quarry (see the 7-30-1908 newspaper article in the attached history).
