Who built this ca. 1840 Clarendon Springs Lane home is not known.  In 1865 the property was bought by John LaClair (ca.1829 - ) and his wife Adelle Landeau (ca. 1832 - ) .  Not much is known about them.  They came down from Canada and John worked as a basketmaker in Clarendon Springs for a period.  One or both of them had some Native American background as their son Edward's death certificate recorded that he was "Half Indian".  Edward died @ 1 month of eryspelas (St. Anthony's Fire).  Tragedy struck the family again just 3 weeks apart when 6 year old Mattie died 11-21-1870 of croup followed by 14 month old Emma on 12-11-1870 also of croup.  They had at least two other children, John b.ca. 1856 and Florence born in 1871.

This home has been significantly modified over time.  We would be most appreciative of any older photos that might exist.  The cover photo is from 2006 town records.  This photo below is courtesy of Phil Mandolare in 2020 and the one at the bottom from 1988 town records.
