The Clarendon Marble Company that was off Walker Mountain Rd north of Clarendon Springs had a rail line connecting it to West Rutland.  The marble company and rail line are long gone but the remnants of a roadway still exists as an access to farm fields using this bridge to cross Ira Brook.  Steel I-Beams were in use beginning in 1849 but with an estimated useful life of 52 years, the current bridge would not have been part of the former rail line that crossed the river here.
