This Rt 133 home was not on the 1854 map but is thought to have been built ca. 1840.  Not all homes were included on that map and so the 1840 date is possible.  The Thomas Higgins (1830 - 1922) and Mary (Sullivan) Higgins (1834 - 1908) family was living there at the time of the 1869 map.  If the house was built in 1840 then the Higgins weren't the first occupants, but they are the first occupants that have been identified to date.

Thomas and Mary were both Irish immigrants, Thomas said to have arrived in 1846 and Mary in 1851.  In 1850 Thomas was working as a laborer and living in the nearby Harvey Chapman household.  In 1870 he was working in the nearby marble quarry.  Thomas and Mary had 10 children.

The cover photo is from 1989 town records and the photo below from 2006 town records.. The photo at the bottom is courtesy of Phil Mandolare in 2020.  We would be most grateful for any older photographs of this home.
