This Walker Mountain Road home was built on the site of the former Green Mountain House (see the Green Mountain House entry in the Buildings and Enterprises collection). The link above brings you to the 1976 historical survey where this property can be found as map #6. The survey indicates it was built ca. 1890. The original Green Mountain House collapsed early in 1866 when it was being raised to add another level. It was rebuild that same year and was in operation at least until 1877. What became of the structure is not known but clearly it was gone before the Cook House was constructed ca. 1890.
