This Rt 7B Central was built ca. 1790.  Who built this home is not known.  On the 1869 map this is the D. Combs home.  This was Daniel Combs (1818 - 1887) and his wife Hannah (Levitus) Combs (1816 - 1897).  Daniel & Hannah had four children.  The oldest two, Harrison Combs Sr (1842 - 1864) and Nelson Combs (1843 - 1863) had died in the Civil War; Harrison at the notorious Andersonville prison in Georgia, and Nelson at Brandy Station, Culpepper, Virginia.  At the time of the 1870 census, Harrison's son Harrison Jr. (1862 - 1907) was living with his grandparents.  Harrison Jr's mother Jane (Rhodes) Combs (1842 - 1911) had remarried in 1866 to Marshall Rodgers (1836 - 1909) and was living in Wallingford with the 1st two of four additional children from her 2nd marriage.
