There have been several attempts at having a library in Clarendon over the past couple centuries.  A report found here details what we know about each of the libraries that have been documented to date. 

See the Cornelia (Horton) Bailey, Benefactress entry in the people collection to learn about the woman that the Bailey Library was named after. 

Below is a photo from 1989 town records of the building that beginning in 1991 would house the newly formed Bailey Library.  At the bottom is a 1992 photo from town records of what had been the Grange Hall which ceased operations in 1987 and which would become the new home of the Bailey Library (downstairs)  and community center (upstairs) in 2000 after extensive renovations.
