This site on Castleton University's property on Creek Rd closely matches the description of where the Charles Button family sheltered in the autumn of 1767/winter of 1768 while their log home on what is now Rt 7B South was built.  The description can be found in People of Wallingford by Birney C. Batcheller published in 1937.  Further investigation is needed to affirm whether this site was that of a dwelling vs being part of a lime kiln operation.  See the Wylie Line Kiln entry in the Buildings & Enterprises collection for information on a nearby site that could possibly be linked to this site.
