This is one of the more historic homes in Clarendon. The history written in 1956 by Lois Wilder says the house was built ca. 1785 by P. Luther. That history can be found
here. It may be that the house was built several years later than 1785 though. The Elisha Luther household (not P. Luther as stated in the narrative) was in Clarendon by the time of the 1790 census but their 1st son William is said to have been born Oct. 4, 1787 in Lebanon, CT.

The Oliver Willson (1795 - 1863) & Mary Ann (Wright) Willson (1804 - 1880) family acquired the home in 1837 from Henry & Silas Hodges. The last of the Willson children to live in the home was Edwin Willson (ca. 1843 - 1924). He had never married and in his latter years the house began to fall into disrepair. It then it sat empty after his death until 1933. While it sat empty it was subject to being looted of historic artifacts. Edwin's grand niece Florence (Hoag) Jones (1894 - 1983) inherited the part of the Willson property containing the house and with her husband, Robert R. Jones (1899 - 1967), began restorations in 1933. See the entry Saving the Willson House in this collection for more on that.
Though this home is technically on Rt 7B Central, it is far off the road and does not face it. It rather faces an ancient road long abandoned that sits up above the modern day Gorge Rd. In Sept. 2018, the historic society had a joint outing with the Crown Point Rd Association that began the day exploring that ancient road. See the Historical Society - Crown Point Road Association Joint Event 2018 entry in the Newsletters and Presentations collection for more on that outing.
